Absolute Oils — Expensive, Exotic & Richly Pure
Absolute oils are the most concentrated and aromatic of all botanical extracts — produced by solvent extraction or enfleurage, capturing the full olfactory complexity that steam distillation cannot achieve. AG Organica offers a full range of Absolute Essential Oils at wholesale prices: Jasmine, Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Ginger Lily, and White Lotus — all natural, GMP certified, with over 400 products in our portfolio.
Absolute vs Essential Oil vs CO₂ Extract
Understanding extraction methods helps you choose the right raw material for your formulation — each method produces a distinct aroma profile and suitable use case.
Our Absolute Oils by Aroma Character
Each absolute carries the living scent of the fresh plant in extraordinary complexity — no two are alike. Here's how our six absolutes compare by aroma family and fragrance application.
Where Absolute Oils Are Used
Our absolute oil range serves the most demanding fragrance and cosmetic applications across global industries.
Key Aromatic Constituents in Our Absolute Range
Absolute oils contain the complete aromatic fingerprint of their botanical source — far more complex than distilled oils. These are the signature compounds defining each absolute.
- Citronellol (18–35%)Primary rosy-floral contributor — soft, sweet, geranium-like
- Geraniol (10–22%)Rose-citrus character; also a skin-conditioning active
- Nonadecane (8–18%)Waxy rose note — key fixative in absolute vs Otto
- Phenylethyl AlcoholClassic honey-rose sweetness; partially solvent-extracted
- Benzyl Acetate (18–26%)Key sweet-floral jasmine ester — intensely diffusive
- Phytol (10–16%)Waxy, slightly floral — improves tenacity and longevity
- cis-Jasmone (3–6%)The defining "jasmine" impact molecule — fruity-floral
- Benzyl BenzoateBalsamic fixative — extends floral note duration on skin
- Citronellol (28–40%)Rosy-citrus backbone — softer and rounder than the EO
- Geraniol (14–20%)Fresh floral note with rose-lemony character
- Linalool (6–12%)Soft lavender-floral bridge note — calming effect
- Isomenthone (4–8%)Minty-green freshness unique to Pelargonium
- Benzyl AlcoholClean, slightly sweet, almond-like note
- Nonanol / NonanalWaxy, aquatic green note — the signature lotus character
- LinaloolSoft floral-lavender bridge note
- EugenolWarm spicy depth note — adds oriental complexity
The Case for Absolute Oils in Fine Fragrance & Luxury Cosmetics
The most demanding applications demand the most complex, authentic raw materials. Here's why absolutes are irreplaceable.
How to Use Absolute Oils
Caring for Your Precious Absolutes
Absolute oils require careful storage to preserve their complex aromatic character and active constituents. Unlike essential oils, some absolutes are semi-solid or highly viscous at room temperature.
Estimated Shelf Life
From manufacture, stored sealed in amber glass at 10°C.
| Absolute Oil | Shelf Life | Physical State | Visual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose Absolute | 24–36 months | Semi-solid | |
| Jasmine Absolute | 24–36 months | Viscous liquid | |
| Lavender Absolute | 24 months | Dark liquid | |
| Geranium Absolute | 24 months | Dark amber liquid | |
| White Lotus Absolute | 36 months | Pale to amber liquid | |
| Ginger Lily Absolute | 24–30 months | Yellow-orange liquid |
- Never apply undiluted directly to skin — always dilute to IFRA-recommended maximum levels for the intended product category.
- Rose and Jasmine absolutes contain EU-listed allergens (Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, etc.) — declare on product labels per EU Cosmetics Regulation.
- Perform HRIPT (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing) before launching any leave-on cosmetic product containing absolutes.
- Solvent residue levels are tested below detection thresholds — COA confirms compliance with EU and US regulatory limits.
- Keep stored away from children; some absolutes (especially Jasmine and Rose) may cause sensitisation with repeated exposure at high concentrations.
- Not for internal consumption unless specifically licensed as food-grade additives under your regulatory framework.
- Full IFRA compliance declaration, MSDS, and allergen list available on request for each absolute oil in our range.
The Most Precious Botanical Extracts
Essential oils, compounds extracted from plants, have been in use for thousands of years for health, medicinal, and aromatic purposes. Absolute oils represent the pinnacle of botanical extraction — capturing the complete, unmodified aromatic and chemical complexity of the fresh plant material.
Unlike steam-distilled essential oils where heat can degrade or modify certain fragrant compounds, solvent extraction in absolute oil production preserves every delicate aromatic molecule — the result is a scent that is far richer, truer, and more complex than any distilled equivalent.
AG Organica is the leading manufacturer and supplier of absolute oils from India — the world's largest source of Jasmine and Rose absolutes. Our Jasmine Absolute from Sambac flowers and our Rose Absolute from Rosa Damascena are considered among the finest available globally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything fragrance brands, cosmetic formulators, and importers need to know about ordering absolute oils from AG Organica.
What is the difference between an absolute and an essential oil?
An essential oil is produced by steam or water distillation, where heat extracts volatile aromatic compounds. An absolute is produced by solvent extraction — typically hexane followed by ethanol washing — which captures heat-sensitive and non-volatile aromatic molecules that distillation destroys. Absolutes are richer, darker, more viscous, and much more aromatic than their distilled counterparts.
Are solvent residues present in your absolute oils?
No. Our extraction and finishing process removes solvent residues below regulatory detection thresholds. Every batch is tested for hexane and ethanol residues using GC-FID analysis, and the results are documented on the Certificate of Analysis supplied with every order. Solvent residue levels comply with EU and US FDA limits for cosmetic raw materials.
What is the minimum order quantity for absolute oils?
Evaluation samples start at 5g. Standard minimum orders are 100g for most absolutes. Rose Absolute and White Lotus Absolute have a minimum of 250g due to the rarity of raw material. For established accounts and repeat orders, we accommodate quantities from 100g through to multi-kilogram commercial orders.
Do you supply IFRA compliance documents?
Yes — IFRA compliance declarations are supplied automatically with every absolute oil order. Our declarations cover all 12 IFRA product categories and are based on IFRA 51st Amendment standards. We also provide EU allergen declarations listing all 26 EU-regulated allergens present above declaration thresholds.
Can you supply pre-diluted absolutes for easier formulation?
Yes. We offer pre-diluted absolutes in Ethanol (96%) or Jojoba Oil at 5%, 10%, 20%, and 50% concentrations. Pre-diluted absolutes are easier to weigh, blend, and handle — and are supplied with IFRA declarations for the diluted product. Contact us to specify your required concentration and diluent.
How should absolute oils be used in fine fragrance?
Use pre-diluted absolutes (10% in ethanol) for ease of weighing — measure into your formula by weight. In a typical EDP (20% fragrance concentration), absolutes like Rose and Jasmine typically form 0.5–5% of the formula total. Always formulate within IFRA Category 4 limits for fine fragrance and provide allergen labelling as required by EU Cosmetics Regulation.
