Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a disease that is caused by the recently discovered coronavirus. The infected person will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness & recover without requiring special treatment.

When an infected person sneezes or coughs then the droplets of saliva spreads in the air, ground or in the nearby surroundings.

If someone is standing near an infected person or touches the infected place & then touches his/her face, eyes or nose then he/she might get infected.

If any person is within one meter of an infected person then the probability of spreading the infection is high.

What happens to the person who suffers from COVID-19 ?

  • 80% of people don't need any treatment; they recover on their own.
  • 20% of people need to visit a hospital for treatment.
  • Very few people are treated in the ICU.
  • Which age group is prone to this virus? Can children be affected?
  • Everyone can be affected by this virus.
  • This can spread through the infected person to the children.
  • Mostly this virus is less in children.
  • Senior citizens or people suffering from blood pressure, diabetes, cancer or heart disease are more prone to it.

For how much time this coronavirus can stay alive ?

There is no definite estimate for how much time COVID-19 any remain alive at any place. This can be the same as other coronaviruses.

According to reports, this virus can remain for a few hours on the surface & its existence depends on the weather. If you find out that the place is infected then sanitize that place & help others to keep them safe.

  • Till now there is no vaccine for COVID-19.
  • Because it is a viral infection, so in more than 80% of cases it is cured within a few days.
  • Visit the doctor, if still there are symptoms.

Is there any treatment or medicine available for this virus?

No, there is no medicine available for this virus as most of the people are cured without any vaccination like any other viral. Some medicines that are used for other coronavirus infections are tried on sick patients.

How can I save myself & my family?

  • Sanitize your hands with the sanitizer having more than 60% alcohol. Clean your hand & face after coming from outside.
  • Maintain 1 foot or 3-meter distance from the person who is sneezing.
  • Avoid touching nose, eyes or face.
  • If you are not feeling well then stay at home & consult a doctor.
  • Cover your face with an elbow if sneezing.

Who should wear a mask?

Those you are not infected should not wear a mask. A healthy person should not wear a medical mask as it spreads fake rumors.

Some important steps for this situation:

For more than 20 seconds washing your hands with soap & water. Use sanitizer with more than 60% alcohol. Don't use sanitizer if hands are dirty wash them with soap & water.

Keep an eye on your body temperature.

  • When a person has a cough or fever. Use a 3-layer mask when sick as it stops the infection from spreading & wash your hands rapidly.
  • Whiling visiting hospitals.
  • When you are taking care of a sick person.

  • When you are taking care of an infected person sanitize your hands.
  • Wash your hands with soap & water at home.
  • If your hands are dirty then wash your hands don't sanitize them.

There is no recommendation for a diet but a person should include green vegetables & fruits in the diet.

Is there any infection available for COVID-19?

No, there is no injection available till now.

Government & public welfare ministry has provided many facilities to help people suffering from the coronavirus.

On the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), everything is available like sample testing, hospital facilities & information about admitted patients.

What are the common myths of corona?

  1. Do this virus spreads through the non-vegetarian food like chicken or eggs? There is no evidence of this that uncooked food spreads the virus.
  2. Do this virus spreads through animals? Till now there no transmission of disease through pet is seen.
  3. Does the dead body of corona infected person can spread the virus? No, the disease cannot be transmitted through the dead body.

How can I help in stopping the virus?

  1. A good citizen should keep in mind sanitization.
  2. Avoid traveling & going to social gatherings.
  3. This can contribute to breaking the chain of the virus.
